Silicon Cloud Design Workflow Training Program

The IC design training program will provide systematic and structured training for university students, and IC design engineers. The training packages will provide an end-to-end training program that will allow a rapid and comprehensive education on IC design and the Silicon Cloud workflow methodology and cloud services. The IC design training program is comprised of 3 interrelated tracks.

Three Track Workflow Training Program:

Track #1

Fundamental Technology and Design Trainings

This track is intended to provide comprehensive and structured training in the fundamentals of semiconductor technology and IC design. The content and schedule are primarily defined and driven by the university professors and the training program directors. Professors can tailor the training curriculum based on the knowledge-level and capability of their students. Silicon Cloud will collaborate with professors to define, develop, and integrate training labs and EDA tools in the Cloud for the students and professors to use for class projects. Silicon Cloud will also provide local support resources for the training material and cloud infrastructure systems.

This track is intended to provide comprehensive training for the efficient use and application of EDA tools. Silicon Cloud will collaborate and work closely with the EDA tool providers to define, develop, and integrate the EDA tools and the related training material in the Cloud. Silicon Cloud (and the EDA vendors) will provide local support resources for the training material and cloud infrastructure systems.

Design Workflow Trainings

This track is intended to provide hands-on design workflow training to develop industry-ready IC design engineers. Silicon Cloud will provide cloud-based hands-on semiconductor design-to-manufacturing workflow training courses with real-world target designs for students, professors, and industry professionals. All the technology PDKs, EDA tools, IP Libraries, and computing infrastructures will be provided in the Silicon Cloud. The final target designs can optionally be implemented as FPGA or can be taped out and fabricated in selected foundries to build the silicon.

Professors & students can execute Silicon Cloud’s training program in any order or timeline based on their objectives and capabilities. The following model is a typical sample timeline for student training.

TRACK 1 – TECHNOLOGY & DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS

  • Semiconductor technology and device fundamentals
  • Fundamentals of semiconductor IC design & verification
  • Introduction to semiconductor IC fabrication
  • Lab material and course related hands-on projects

TRACK 2 – DESIGN PROCESS AND EDA TOOLS

  • EDA tools and associated exercises for IC front-end design and verification
  • EDA tools and associated exercises for IC back-end physical design, verification, and testing
  • Hands-on design, simulation, and verification projects

TRACK 3 – DESIGN IMPLEMENTATIONS AND VERIFICATIONS

  • Digital IC design, simulation, implementation, and verification of industry-grade devices or IP
  • Analog/mixed signal IC design, simulation, implementation, and verification of industry-grade devices or IP
  • Fabrication release preparation and verification (tape out)
  • Post-fabrication hardware validation
